- In the first 6 months, babies may spit up milk or liquids, commonly referred to as infant reflux. It can be more common under 6 months as the muscles in the esophagus are still developing. In this period, factors such as feeding amounts and sleep positioning can be important.
- Parents are often advised to follow safe sleep guidance. In some situations, side-lying may be recommended after feeding due to choking concerns when lying flat on the back.
- If a baby sleeps on their tummy, a perforated, breathable anti-suffocation pillow may be preferred. This pillow uses a foam insert with air holes and a breathable cotton cover. If spit-up occurs while the baby is lying down, the perforations are designed to help liquid pass through, aiming to reduce risk.
- How to Wash? The fabric cover can be hand-washed or machine-washed at 40°C. Hand-washing the foam is recommended, and it should be laid flat to dry without using a tumble dryer.
- Note: Polyurethane is commonly used in foam products. Due to oxidation, polyurethane foam may yellow over time; this is generally described as having no negative impact on health.
